Started a post today, but didn’t finish it.

I’m busy.  Paul has extra work and a trip looming.  The girls still go to different schools and I still neducate Christopher…sort of.
I’ve exercised a so much today and I’m so tired, but I have raised my standards, so I need to go spruce the house before passing out.
Also, I’m working on a stand up bit for the writer’s conference, my writer’s group sponsors.  I don’t feel the angst of last year, my first time doing  it, probably because I didn’t schedule another speaking gig on an entirely different subject the week before, like I did last year.  I don’t feel stressed, but I need to knuckle down so that what I have to say is tight and entertaining.  It is so fulfilling making people laugh.  Last year I was completely strung out under the stress of “doing stand up” since I am not a comedian.  Now I know that my task is to just tell funny writing stories.  That I can do, whatever you call it.
Today was a really good.  I accomplished a lot and not very much depending on what categories you you might be counting.  And if you had a bird’s eye view of me, depending on when you were looking you might have thought I was wonder woman or the laziest lady in the world.
I was in the cross hairs of grace and works and let me tell you it’s a wondrous place to be.
I want to live there.

Although it’s been quiet here at Older Than Jesus you know it’s never quiet in our real world.

I had quite a big week last week, was gone a couple days and then Paul, just to remind me who the real traveler is in this family, left for four the minute I returned. He’s back now, safe and sound.

The homeschoolers are taking the week off. I built this into the schedule this summer, knowing I would crash after my conference. At odd moments I will think, “We’ve got to get back to it!” before remembering that this break is sanctioned. We are all unwinding.

Remind me to tell you about:

Eden, thumb sucker no more
the creative process
community
a horrific story about Jack
some thoughts on home education
A Ukrainian Tragedy

I will consider expressions of interest in my prioritization.

Hope everyone is well.

If I had to leave you for so long, didn’t I leave you with a nice picture? Eden thinks so. “I love that picture of me.” She said when she saw it the other day.

Who doesn’t?

I’m tired.

It’s been a long week, some good things, some great things and a couple of very hard things and then there’s always the laundry. (A load that is mildewing in the washer is registering shock that I am acknowledging it. Yes, my dirty clothes have emotions.)

Something that is weighing on me is a great thing: I have been asked to open for the keynote speaker at a writing conference, called Breathe that my writer’s group is putting on in October. They actually asked me to do stand up which made me, a few days after I accepted, begin to twitch, so I have decided to “be funny for fifteen minutes”, a distinction that helps me cope most of the time except for almost every morning last week around two when I woke up because I was hot or Paul breathed too loudly or a piece of lint shifted…

The thing is two of my kids have birthdays this month which necessitates celebrating and then I committed to speak at my former MOPS group the week before the conference because I had something to say and when asked to do it October 3 I thought it might be good to do some speaking before the conference. In the dark of the wee hours when I am debating WHICH talk to work on, I question the wisdom.

Fear sucks, my friends. I am going to stop doing it now…

There.

Thanks.

If you are in West Michigan and are a writer or any sort of creative type and would like to attend leave me a comment and I’ll get you some information. And anyone who wants to come just Friday to hear me speak can do that too.

I will put up a link soon.
