We took these pictures after two in the morning, minutes before Torey and her family left. Only then, did it occur to us that we had neglected to get a family picture, something several of us wanted. I thought we had only gotten one with David, Paul, a sleepy Ren and we four siblings and forgot about this one. A personal friend of my brothers and a cyber friend of mine, Sunva, noted in previous comments that my brothers and I all have the same nose. We know it, and Torey has it too, as you all can see for yourselves. We are clear on this because, when Torey was a tiny baby, we three older ones would put her in the cat basket all swaddled in blankets and laugh at her nose. We thought she was cute and sweet but her tiny little ski jump of a nose cracked us all up. My parents were laughing at us too, because all three of us had the same nose, which we got from our father. My mother didn’t keep it a secret that she thought we all would have been better off with hers, but ours have served us well.

It looks like my girls, have gotten their own father’s nose, but I think Christopher is going to have the Wolfe’s.

And now we are still waiting for the wee-est member of our family to make her appearance. It probably won’t be much after that that her sister and cousins will have her bundled in a basket like her mother before her. I can’t wait to see her face…and not just to check out her nose.

School is about to be back in session.

No P2-ty yet.

It’s foggy and wet here, but mid 50’s. Paul and I were out early this morning walking Jack and I had on a light jacket and a hat, gloves and boots weren’t necessary. I still slipped on a thick patch of ice and torked my shoulder. I felt like a chicken who had a wing pulled off. I am so thankful for Jack. If not for him, I might have missed the warmth of this day.

And now I get to go do school.

P2

My sister’s baby is due tomorrow and I will be surprised if Torey goes much past that. She’s ready. We’ll see if the baby is too.

When she and her family lived with us we got in the habit of referring to the kids obliquely as “H1, H2, H3 and P1” It worked for some time since Christopher (H1) is hearing impaired and Eden (H3) and Ren (P1) were oblivious, but it was only a matter of time before Lydia (H2) cracked the code. We weren’t really trying to keep it a secret; mainly we used it to draw attention to something hilarious that one or both of the Legumes was doing without attracting their attention.

P2 was referred to before she was even conceived. We’ll never get away with calling her that as an aside, because the girl has been having that yelled at her by the Legumes since she had ears to hear. Soon she will be here and have her own name, but I know the nickname will, if not stick, surface from time to time, and I wonder what memories it will stir for her.

A picture of the Wolfe siblings was requested. This was taken about two the morning Nathan flew out. Looking at it I asked Paul if I looked tired.

“Yeah, you do. These guys,” he said tapping the my brothers’ faces on the screen, “they get up after noon so they look great.”

Aren’t they a couple of handsome gents?

I have spent A LOT of time this week wearing my pajamas, lying in bed reading. The other day I even had a carafe of coffee on my bedside table. My current cup of choice is a small jadeite cup that I use without the saucer. I love that shade of green.

Both of my brothers have been in town. We’ve had many late nights, early mornings really. And yet, there is still a firm little knock on our door every morning around 7:30. Eden likes to climb in on my side and make her plans for the day in a very loud whisper.

We are taking the rest of this week off school.

My resolution for tomorrow is to get the kids out of the house.

One day at a time, my friends.

Happy New Year!
