Happy Wednesday

Lydia asked for french toast for breakfast and, after saying an immediate, “No!” I thought, “Why not?”

Eden cracked the eggs, while I measured the milk and spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.) I love french toast, but rarely order it in restaurants because it can have such fine parameters. Unless a really good, thick bread is used, it HAS to be hot, which can be almost impossible when four other meals are ordered with it.

The girls cooked their pieces, then I made a couple for Christopher and then there was just enough for two more. Paul and I each had one. Baby it was goooooood. The nutmeg was key. I used whole wheat bread and real maple syrup (sparingly) so it was certainly more healthful than most bowls of cereal. And since we didn’t overeat I feel quite good.

The last couple nights I stayed up late and rose early but slept through the night. This morning I am back on it. Monday and yesterday I felt narcoleptic. Reading to the kids I had to get up and walk around or I would have slumped.

I hate feeling this tired. This is the longest and most consistently I have gone with interrupted sleep and Baby, sleep ( like reading as the 70’s slogans informed us) is fundamental.

Mother’s Day was great. I’ll tell you about it soon.

Nature Time and a little Shakespeare

Yes, well here I am. This morning I awoke soon after 2:00 which was exciting as 3:00 and 4:00 are my normal shifts. Soon after, I heard a very loud bird calling close outside my window. I wanted to wake Paul so he could weigh in, but decided he would probably rather sleep than have a little nature time with me. Rats.

It was probably an owl. I know I will try and replicate it for my brother-in-law who is an outdoorsman, later today at lunch, and will almost certainly sound like a fool.

This morning I awoke huddled on Paul’s side of the bed with him pulling back the blankets intent on getting back in. I am a slave to his bladder. Let’s pray he never has prostate trouble or I’ll be a zombie.

I am lying in bed, as my wireless stinks in the living room. Typing sooo quietly I have isolated the space bar as the loudest key and it is frequently needed, my friends. I don’t want to tempt Paul to smother me with a pillow, although the thought of passing out, by any means, is attractive. The risk that he might go too far is great and I don’t want my kids to have to visit Daddy in the Pen, and I certainly don’t want them deprived of me forever.

Let’s just keep it at Paul murdering my sleep.
