An Adjustment

January 15, 2008 by Alison Hodgson 6 Comments

Torey’s due date has been changed.  It was the 19th, but at 20 weeks they moved it to January 7. Some of us who are not nine months pregnant have been wondering if the original due date was correct, but kept silent, because how can you suggest to someone who is so ready to be done, that maybe…perhaps… she or, at the very least her baby, isn’t?  The new due date is now January 18, this Friday.

Torey took the news well.  She found out several hours after she had a root canal and the Tylenol had finally kicked in.  Yes, I did just say that.  She had a root canal today.   We check in just about every morning and she was almost weeping in pain.  David was at work and her car was in the shop and I think she was in so much pain and so tired from weeks of cruddy sleep, she just couldn’t think.  I told her to call the dentist and that if they could get her in, the homeschoolers and I would come and get her and Ren.   And that’s exactly what we did.
I want to riff a little about pregnancy, but must get the results of my own into bed.  So you’ve either been denied or reprieved depending on your perspective.
Hope everyone is happy and well.
And if the sun is shining on you would you please turn your face up and soak in a few rays for me?  Please?  I’m totally cool…sooooo not Jack Nicholsonish from The Shining.  Never.  However a wee bit of sun would be great, fantastic, just what the doctor ordered.

I don’t know what happened down there at the end of the post. It will serve as an illustration: grey it a little and you are looking at a Michigan sky.

There is a sun still. Right? Need confirmation.

I saw the sun in Florida–even felt its warmth. I believe it was also shining in Denver when we stopped over there on our way home. You could try looking there. We are grey and snowy here.

    Tell Torey I am praying.

For the first time in a long time the sky is totally blue and I can see the snow covered mountains from my window. I’ll make sure to soak up some sun for you and then send it your way.

Ali and Allison, thank you very much. Imagine if you really could soak up the sun from someone vicariously.

Sherry, I am so glad you had your time in the sun and do not envy you one bit – you deserve it!

Dan, I’m with you brother. Solidarity.
