“39…for the first time”

October 2, 2007 by Alison Hodgson 10 Comments

That’s what Paul’s says whenever he’s asked how old he’ll be this year.

What is he doing? You might be wondering. This, my dear friends, is a Grade A example of “Flower Face.” Often, when one of has been sweet or is feeling sheepish or shyly proud, the other one will command the one with all the feelings to, “Make a flower face.”

We don’t get out a lot.

My intention was to post of picture that showed Paul as the handsome, dignified man, he is,but (at least on Photobooth and without me) there were none to be found. People who don’t drop their cameras and people who do drop their cameras and then replace them, don’t face these sorts of challenges. Clearly I’m not those kind of people.

Happy Birthday, my wonderful nut, many, many more.

Sadly, the man has this huge conference this week and is working dawn to dusk. The kids gave him cards and we all wished him well this morning. The plan is to reconvene after my big conference.

Although, truth be told, I didn’t have another birthday in me this year. I’m xausted, as a Bean used to say.

He has no idea I posted this ridiculous picture of him. I hope he doesn’t mind. I took it months ago. I don’t think he remembers its existence.

I consider deleting it, then look again and decide I CANNOT remove all that beauty.

Can YOU look at it without laughing or at least smiling?

    CAN you!

I can’t and therefore will continue to spread the love…at least until the Birthday Boy gets home.

I must admit, I cannot look at the flower-faced giant without at least smiling. I can’t laugh outloud, as my father is asleep next to me and probably wouldn’t appreciate the noise.

    What a goof.

    Happy birthday, Paul.

Did I know that Andy and Paul were so close in age? Andy’s first 39th was in July.

I just knew that they were both REALLY old.

First thirty-ninth. That’s almost as bad as Fifth Third. What’s up with that?
