Yesterday at the librairy I noticed a new title by Bill Bryson and checked it out.

I awoke in the middle of the night and began to read it. Out loud laughter ensued. Paul rolled over to check the time.

“I have at least a couple more hours to sleep, Pretty. Would you please spare me?”

I mumbled something noncommittal and rolled away from him.

Muffling giggles in my pillow I realized that the last time I woke Paul up with giggling I was reading another book by Bill Bryson.

Glad you are enjoying your book. Will have to try out Bill Bryson.

You have been suspiciously absent from our little circle of blogs lately. I miss your voice in the greater blogosphere.

Hey, which Bryson book is it? Is it the one about the universe or something?

I’ve only read A Walk in the Woods, but found it hilarious.

A Walk in the Woods is hilarious…found a Sunburned Country to be a yawner though, so he’s batting .500 at this point. I’d give this new one a try, however.

Dan, It WAS the Sunburned Country. It was the very beginning that was me, but it definitely slows down in the laughs department.

    Scott,

I recommend A Walk in the Woods

    Notes from a Small Island
    The Lost Continent
    I’m a Stranger Here Myself

    Sherry,

I know. I have had a houseful and Paul has been travelling. That whole thing you know about – choosing reality over virtual.

In a Sunburned Country was published in 2000 and is only new to me.

I discovered Bryson when I got my iPod and audible account. He reads his own stuff on audio. I listened to a walk in the woods first and was hooked; loved a sunburned country, and couldn’t get past the first 20 minutes in the one about everything in the universe. I think he bit off to much with that one. I haven’t actually ready anything of his. I think since I started with his voice, not mine I can’t get past that now.
