At the librairy:

I needed to come and check for responses to a couple of e-mails I had sent out. A man asked for my assistance. He wanted to know where he could take classes to learn about computers. I suggested this would be a good place. He continued to tell me a long story about a librarian assisting him in setting up an e-mail account and then stealing his identity. He has been to the FBI but they are just a fake FBI because they don’t care about it. He wondered if he needed to contact the KGB as every law enforcement agency is mixed up with the mafia. It had been a year since the incident so he didn’t know if he would be able to identify this guy even if he was ever able to get a sketch artist…

Is there a sign on my back that says I am highly trained in dealing with the delusional? This is true but I am not a social worker. My specialty is juveniles to whom I gave birth.

As he continued his story I pressed in to listen and see if God was asking me to do anything other than listen and I felt clear this wasn’t my assignment.

When I was able I recommended again finding a librairy class to learn more about computers and then excused myself. He left soon after.

…………..

Things are going well with the book. I don’t have a strong outline. At this point I am just writing what I am hearing and will worry about the structure later. Getting into the habit of plugging away everyday is such a victory. I have been accosting Paul and my siblings with the content.

The disruption of DSL was actually an answer to prayer. The only thing to do at my computer is to write my stories. Our new equipment should be here soon and I will be back.

Remind me to tell you about:

the needy Bubbleologist
putting together the puzzle
medical professionals who let Beanie down

……………

I think the computer I am using was saved from the set of the movie War Games. (Remember how sweet it looked) The keys are so sticky I have to type something and then wait. But it’s not consistent. It’s like it has Tourette’s.

I can’t take it anymore.

So you’re saying that you don’t think a librarian REALLY stole this guys identity? It could happen. He was probably bipolar though. That kind of story is common with people who are extremely bipolar. Conspiracies and elaborate schemes and that sort of thing.

I also seem to attract highly delusional people. The best thing to do is not to try and disagree with them. Just act sympathetic and change the subject.

A keyboard with Tourette’s…that could be very bleepin’ funny. I don’t think it would jive well with your bleep bleep filter system, censoring every other bleepin’ word.

Glad your writing is going well. When do I get to read something?

Oh, a book, good for you. That is a great ambition, one I’ve not attempted.

As someone who works at community college, I also know the delusional.
