First Birthday

January 11, 2008 by Alison Hodgson 2 Comments

Sadly the birthday boy made a mad dash for the kitchen while we were lighting his candle.

We’ll try that again. The black blur is the guest of honor. He was in an absolute lather since his “cake” was a shin bone stuffed with peanut butter.

Once given the bone, he immediately ran off to the bedroom to chew it. I just kept taking pictures. The kids went about their business. Eden has just knocked over Christopher who had assumed some sort of pose and yes, that is Lydia in the background in a High School Musically inspired stance.

I have accidentally deleted two pictures and don’t have the strength to upload them again. For real, I am going to get a camera before Eden’s birthday, which is January 25th.

I am posting this from my bed.

Christopher is sitting beside me finishing up his work.

The girls and their cousin, Ren, are in Eden’s bedroom having a beach party. They are all in bathing suits and reclining on towels enjoying a snack that Lydia rustled.

Jack is sleeping on the floor beside my bed, tucked into some blankets by one of the children.

Paul is flying home from Thailand, probably approaching Chicago.

Since I began Christopher has finished his writing, Ren hit her head and ran in her screaming, I’ve received two phone calls and been invited with Christopher to the beach party. French techno pop is playing. We’re going to go.

Pictures might follow.

His flight was delayed.

There are three, count them, three kids and a dog in my room with me anxiously awaiting a taxi that is bringing a certain travelling man home…for now, for tonight.

My sister, Torey, has offfered to take ALL three kids for a sleepover.

Must pack and deliver them, STAT.

I wonder if the invitation included her fellow beauty contestant, Jackie Boy?

Hell-didddly-o

October 4, 2007 by Alison Hodgson Leave a Comment

It’s been a busy couple of days.

As mentioned before, Paul is working morning to night all this week. If you are curious if that’s working for me and the kids, it’s not. We need the man home. He’ll be here by dinner tonight.

Friday evening and Saturday morning he and I are scheduled to be at a retreat at church, but I don’t think that’s the best thing for the kids. They need their dad. As much as I would love to wing out of here Friday like a bat out of hell, I think we need to have a quiet evening, all five of us, together.

Child and dog abuse have not been perpetrated. The time is going well, but – at night especially – the kids are whiney and sensitive and I’m exhausted.

We need to hit the books.

I’ll be back later today.
