Lost

March 12, 2008 by Alison Hodgson 2 Comments

I’m not talking about the T.V. show.

For several years now I have been using a large (2 x 3 ft.) calendar, the old school sort that was used as a blotter.  I use this kind because I tend to wander around with mine, whilst on the phone, and I hoped that one the size of a small bedroom would not be easily lost.  Misplaced, yes, hence the big size to aid quick spotting and up until today I have always been able to find it.  But it has been missing since Sunday.  This makes me nervous as my memory is fantastic for who said what fifteen years ago, but not so good for where I need to be on any given day.
If you happen to come across my calendar, which I can only assume has wandered off, please give it immediate marching orders back to my desk.
Please.

The Answer:

It’s hard.
You know it’s hard.
Everybody wants her, everybody loves her.
Everybody wants to take your baby home.
You watch your friends.
It never ends.
You know it’s crazy, you want to trust her,
but then somebody hangs up when you answer the phone.
You go it alone
You watch her eyes.
You look for lies.
You watch your friends.
Oh it never ends.
You watch her eyes.
Keep looking for lies.
Paul has been singing the first line of a song to me for years.  Clearly it was the only one he knew.  Tonight I finally asked the question, “What exactly happens when you’re in love with a beautiful woman?”
He didn’t know what the Bee Gees thought, but quickly found out.

Happy Tuesday

March 11, 2008 by Alison Hodgson 5 Comments

It’s been a busy day for us.  I have been running around since morning.  In a minute we’re going to go pick up Paul and then head to dinner.  This sounds very mundane, but it’s actually a dream come true for Christopher.  The restaurant where we are going offers “Kids Eat Free” on Tuesday nights and hires different entertainment acts.  Tonight it is a magician who performed at Christopher’s school, seven years ago and completely WOWED him.  Christopher has been talking about this guy since.

Saturday, while out for breakfast with Paul, they found out about this gig and Christopher has been counting down the days/hours/minutes since.

Torey wondered if the magician will live up to the expectations of years.
Only time (T minus 24 minutes) will tell.

Happy Monday

Paul’s in the country.
I’m in town.
School’s almost complete.
Thanks to Paul, we’re all caught up on laundry.
Eden’s in the tub.  (I can see her, from where I write, so put down the phone.)
The sun is shining.
We are going out to lunch.
Happy Monday, indeed.

Happy Saturday!

March 8, 2008 by Alison Hodgson 5 Comments

I am holed up in the loft of a cabin on a lake.  I am at a camp with a couple friends speaking at a retreat.  Tonight I told the story of how Paul and I tried to have a romantic get away and I got food poisoning.  At one point I had to stop because I was laughing so hard.  Fortunately everyone was laughing with me…or at least I think so.

I need to get up to get a hat because it is FREEZING up here.  Sadly the sheets are some sort of unnatural fiber.  But I don’t care, because tomorrow when I lift my head and look out the window I will see the water.
