Yesterday, Beanie wanted to swing. We have two baby swings, one shaped like a teddy bear and one like a plane. There is only one big kid swing, the sort that is rubber and forms a “U” when hanging. She wanted to be in that one. I didn’t feel like tending a toddler with a concussion but decided if I was careful and she held on it could work for a couple of minutes.
I pushed her a couple of times before she squealed, “This is…” I anticipated “fun” but she said, “…Fantasgic!”
Aren’t I glad I let her risk and soar a little higher and experience something fantasgic.
I am.

when Angela was about 9 months to 18 months or so, I would put her on a swing and push her -and she would laugh hysterically the whole time. It was amusing to watch -and hear.
Torey says
That is a fantasgic story!
Gotta love the Bean!

Beanie has such a love of life, and vocabulary! Love it.
Scott says
Ah, beautiful, Alison. The freedom of the swing, newly experienced, is fantastic, isn’t it?
Sheila says
You must tell me again why you call her The Bean. I’m sure it’s a cute story, and I missed it.

We are mad nicknamers, which is funny since neither, Paul nor I had nicknames.
It devolved from her real name.
Eden, Edie Beadie, Beadie, Beanie, Beaner, Beansie, The Bean, Beanie Baggins…it keeps going.
Another nickname, Baby Cakes to Cakesie to Cakers or Baby Cakers to plain old Cake.
One of my favorite nicknames for her was Baby America, like Miss America. Paul would begin singing “There she is, Baby America…” and I would give her acceptance speech, “I consider it a honnna and a pwivawidgwe to wepwesent all da babies of dis gweat wand…”
We don’t get much.
alison says
OK, I meant to say, we don’t get OUT much.
Sheila says
Aw, thanks – see, I KNEW there was a cute story behind it. We call Sally “The Beada” because when she starting talking, she would say “beada beada” all the time and we never did figure out what it meant. Course, now she wants a new nickname – wants it to be “friend”. “Um, kay . . . . not really nickname material, honey . . no cute story, no inside information needed . . . .” She won’t listen to reason.

Sheila,
That’s funny. Is she exploring the Quakers or has she been watching Little Bill?
